It was my bestie’s birthday so we went to get some indian food at Beeryani on Denman Street.

Overlooking the giant laughing statues at English Bay, it’s in an absolute great location.  It’s a somewhat small space.  They have fairy lights up, with these funky light bulb fixtures, booth seating, and a little bar on the far end of the restaurant.  There are quite a few TVs to look at and there was this great wall mural with just words describing the food and the area – the mural made me think of indian street food although I cannot describe why.  It’s just what came to mind when I saw it.

We ordered:

Samosa Platter – the samosas were crisp and filled with potatoes and peas.  They were served on a plate with chickpeas and chutney.  They were good.

Lamb Biriyani – rice with big chunks of lamb.  Of course with a name like Beeryani, you know the biriyani is going to be awesome.  I’ve ordered this before on uber eats as well.  It is so, so delicious!  They are able to adjust the spice level on this dish.  My friend asked for it to be at a 4 out of 10 and it was still a bit too much kick for her so keep that in mind if you aren’t good with spice.  The biriyani was my favorite thing that I’ve tried off their menu so far.

Butter Chicken with garlic naan – delicious authentic, creamy butter chicken with yummy naan.

Cucumber Raita – yum!  My friend liked using the raita to help cool off the spice level in the biriyani also.  Raita is my fave in general and this one was delicious.

The food is great and the serving sizes are very generous.  We all went home with left-overs.

Our server was fantastic.  He was friendly and offered guidance while we were navigating through the menu.  The only criticism I have is that when I called to make the reservation I mentioned it was my friend’s birthday.  I thought maybe they would do something nice like bring out a dessert or something, but they didn’t acknowledge the occasion.

Overall, I thought it was good and I will definitely visit again.  I want to try the lamb rogan josh one day, but one thing I know for sure is I will be back for that lamb biryani again and again.
